Happy 1st Birthday Caroline

It went something like this…

“I know you are super crazy busy, but could you come by next week to photograph Caroline’s birthday?”

“Yes, that’s seven days from the movers, I think I will still know where everything is. Absolutely!”

I am so glad we were able to hook up. It’s sessions like these that remind you why you do what you do! Caroline is eat me up cuteness!!! Her big brother even told me he was all grown up.

Oh Lolli Lolli Lolli Lollipop

It’s all about the lollipop. Can give a child a big ole lollipop, but you just can’t take it away. We all learn this sooner or later.

Meet Scott’s kiddos. Scott is an extremely talented graphic designer I met a while back and he wanted to photograph his kids at the Chesapeake Arboretum. We had one of the loveliest days in May. (I know this post is way late). We smelled the flowers, found some bugs, danced on the tables, had lollipops, cried about lollipops, wiped up lollipop faces, you know the whole fabulous bit.

These wonderful kiddos came over to the studio for a play date with me. We had so much fun! Their mom even signed up for private photography lessons and she’s on her way….

{A Tea Party}

Little girls, candles, dressing up, teacups, and opening presents. I want to be a little girl again so I can chatter with excitement and try on pretty dresses with lots of costume jewelry. I want to practice pouring tea and eat tea pot shaped cookies. Welcome to the With Flair Tea Room and the little girls dream world created by owner, Pam Fogle. Pam is an amazing cook, hostess and personality. Any little girl would love to have a party here.

The party room is right next to my studio room, so once the girls are all dressed up they ran over to have their portraits taken in the photo booth. I love it! It was so much fun to team up with Pam for this party!

Super heros make the world go round and round and you can never have too many in your life. Super “J”, aka Jude, is no exception with his little blue pony and its polka dots bouncing along chasing airplanes and bugs. Remember the time when everything was exciting and everything should be explored? Every fish got it’s hello and all the balls were played with. Hoses were exciting as heck and being in the nude was a ok. Even a gas can has potential. This is childhood.

{All Together Now}

I hardly know what to say about this session and where to start. My time with Christine’s family was overflowing with love and warmth. One of the the many things we celebrated was Jack’s third birthday and all of Christine’s siblings coming together. Christine’s mom is getting ready to under treatment for cancer, so at times I was a bit teary eyed behind the camera watching them hug and hold each other. Family is precious and this family loves each other so very much.

We ended up splitting the session into two parts to photograph Christine’s mom before she headed back home. The second part of the session was all about Jack and his Dad. I tell you, some Navy families just get no love! Jack’s dad is geobacheloring for the next three years so our pictures were to help Jack see what he and his Dad do together, so he is never very far away. Just a photo away to be exact.

How blessed am I to be trusted with such dear and precious memories?

A couple of cool things about this family…Christine and her sister are twins, Jack has the most gorgeous eyelashes ever and we debuted the red couch!

{4th Of July}

I know. I am way behind on posting. Way behind. Well, today I am starting to catch up. Trying .

These are some photographs of my weekend with my cousins down at Lake Gaston. I love being able to go down to Gaston, kick off my shoes, change into my swimsuit, grab a drink and not change a thing for the rest of the weekend. We had a wonderful time…fishing, tubing, playing volleyball, and just hanging out. We also had our own version of the show wipeout, those photos are at the end of the slideshow. Sean my youngest cousin also gave me a demonstration on how you make a burp, which I find hilarious. He was truly proud of his burp, as you will see.

Enjoy and I hope everyone had as much fun with their families as I had with mine!

{Portrait Of A Teenager}

Meet Cheyenne, my lovely mentee. Cheyenne has been mentoring with me since January and is learning the fine art of photography. Yesterday we took a break from learning to have some fun and she is a wonderful person to photograph. Stay tuned for her images as we progress from using program mode on the camera to photographing with intention.
